In 1926 two WEC missionaries arrived in the Middle East. Abbot Upcher, the senior missionary, urged Roy to cross over the Jordan River and join him in reaching Bedouin for Christ. When Roy finished his Arabic studies in Jerusalem difficult questions faced him. Should he cross over the Jordan River? At the same time, Roy is plagued with questions about the working of the Holy Spirit. Abbot seems to have the answers. Roy must work with the Bedouin, and Roy should adopt Abbot's position on the Holy Spirit. There are no easy answers for Roy. Even the visit of Pricilla Studd, the director of the mission brings no clear answers. Through a strange turn of events, Roy finds himself out of the Middle East and then back again. This time he does cross the Jordan River, but not to work with the Bedouin. God brings him to the city of Salt in Trans-Jordan where he begins a small ministry. Still plagued with questions about the Holy Spirit, Roy seeks God for answers. When God does answer, the entire Middle East is set on fire for God. A historical novel based on true events in the Middle East. (1924-1936) Much of the material is taken from diaries, letters, written accounts and interviews about the Arab Revival of the 1930's. |
